Operation Cookie Drop a Success!
On Thursday, August 1, 2019 at approximately 1300 hours, Heart of the Hudson Girl Scout Troops 251*766*60016 performed Operation Cookie Drop to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties administrative offices in Newburgh, NY.
Cases of Thin Mints, Samoas, Trefoils, Do-Si-Dos, Tagalongs, S’Mores and every other GS Cookie you can name, were delivered to be given to the Veterans we care for.
The nine Girl Scouts, one Boy Scout along with troop leaders received a presentation of our We Honor Veterans Honor Salute and Recognition Program. They viewed a video of an honor salute and learned the importance of thanking our Veterans for their service.
“It definitely was an emotional and learning experience, and one of the best we’ve had” said Troop Leader Krissy Werba’s daughter Janice. “All the girls agreed and said they thought this was the best one. We are beyond grateful for this experience” said Werba.
“The presentation really made a deep impression because I was asked by a few, what they needed to do to one day work for Hospice,” said Janice Valentino, Director of Marketing and Development. One of the scouts who is age appropriate to become a Hospice volunteer is planning to take the training this fall.
Thank you, Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson for including Hospice as one of your important cookie drop missions. Due to your generosity with the number of cookies we received, we are also able to share them with our patients and families receiving Hospice care, and staff too.
