Children’s Grieving Center
September 21, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
The Children’s Grieving Center provides families in Orange & Sullivan County, New York with loving support in a safe place where children, ages 5 to 17, and their families grieving a death can share their experience as they move through the healing process.
During this time the youth and families will participate in some activities and discussion together, as well as split up into an adult group and a children’s group. Each group will have their own clinician to facilitate activities and discussion based on a pre-planned curriculum. Although parents and caregivers are not required to participate in the groups, they are required to remain in the building in the event of an emergency. Students heal more successfully when their parent/caregiver participates.
Group will begin Wednesday, September 21, 2016, and will be conducted every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. Children and families can begin arriving at 6pm, and group will officially run from 6:30pm to 7:30pm.
If you are interested in our Children’s Bereavement Services, please call 845-561-6111 x 226 and speak with Alyssa Sanchez, MSW prior to attending a group session for an intake. Participation in the Children’s Grieving Center is free of cost and available to hospice families and community families.
