Thoughts From Our President: National Hospice and Palliative Care Month

November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month.  Here is a stark reality – If given the choice, 80% of Americans would rather die at home – yet only 30% do. We can do better if we remember that hospice is not just a service and hospice is not a place. Hospice care is a fundamental human right.

At Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, we create moments of peace for families in our community and provide comfort and dignity when it matters most. Honestly, each moment matters when you have a life-limiting illness, and I am proud of the work that we do to help our patients pass as peacefully as possible.

To my hospice colleagues everywhere, take a bow, and please take credit for enriching every day for the patients and families that trust us with their care.
