Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties has earned the 2022 SHPBest(TM) “Superior Performer” Caregiver Satisfaction Award – 1 of only 4 Hospice’s to receive Award in NY State
Orange and Sullivan County, September 18, 2023 – Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties has been recognized by Strategic Healthcare Programs (SHP) as a “Superior Performer” for achieving an overall caregiver and family satisfaction score that ranked in the top 20% of all eligible SHP clients, in the country, for the 2022 calendar year.
The annual SHPBestTM award program was created to acknowledge hospice providers that consistently provide high quality service to families and caregivers of patients receiving hospice care. The 2022 award recipients were determined by reviewing and ranking the overall Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Hospice survey satisfaction score for more than 1,000 hospice providers. With one of the largest CAHPS Hospice benchmarks in the nation, SHP is in a unique position to identify and recognize organizations that have made family and caregiver satisfaction a priority and have been rewarded for their efforts with high marks on the CAHPS Hospice survey.
“SHP is proud to present the SHPBest awards to our top-performing customers. We commend these organizations for their continuous focus on delivering the highest quality of care to their patients”, said Rob Paulsson, President of SHP.
Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties previously won this Award in 2019 and 2018. “The clinical teams continuously work on improving the quality of care we provide including in areas that the CAHPS survey focuses on” said Melissa Hansen, RN, Chief Clinical Officer of Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties. “By making staff available on nights and weekends, placing an importance on educating families, to give them the tools and knowledge they need to care for their loved ones, and recognizing the importance of communication, making sure families are informed, we have been able to respond to, and meet, the needs of our patients and their families and caregivers.”
“This recognition is so rewarding because it comes directly from family and caregivers of patients we have served. We have a long history of using data to inform us how best to improve our processes and ultimately the care we provide. It’s important for us to understand, and focus on, the goals of care for our caregivers, as well as our patients, so that our Hospice experience is beneficial for them as well”, said Sandra Cassese, RN, MSN, CNS, President & CEO of Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties.
