RE:  Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc.  Level 5 We honor Veterans Certification Renewal, an NHPCO National Veterans Program

Newburgh, NY – Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc. is proud to announce it has been renewed as a Level 5 Partner in the We Honor Veterans, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. The continued work to uphold the highest level demonstrates the utmost commitment to Veteran-centric care in the community.

As a partner, Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, Inc. is providing specialized care to Veterans who are facing serious illness. This includes a Veteran-to-Veteran volunteer program, recognition to service, training on conflict-specific medical and mental health concerns, and knowledge to assist Veterans in navigating VA benefits. The Honor Salute Recognition program is an important and well-respected program that has reached out to the communities across Orange and Sullivan Counties, offering Veterans the opportunity to salute veteran patients, community crafters to make patriotic blankets, and for children to thank our veterans for their service by supplying handmade thank you cards.

NHPCO and the Department of Veterans Affairs launched We Honor Veterans in 2008 to address the growing need for Veteran-centered care, especially as Veterans from different eras are aging and have access to Veteran-centric palliative and hospice care.
