2019 Tree of Life: Where to Donate
The Holidays are a time of giving, compassion, and goodwill. Regardless of which holiday you’ll be celebrating, there is a pervasive theme of expressing love for our families, friends, neighbors, and even strangers. But while we’re visiting and exchanging gifts with loved ones, a great many of us will be preparing to say goodbye to family members and dear friends. Others, still, may be coping with a recent loss.
Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties doesn’t take a vacation for the Holidays. Our dedicated doctors, nurses, grief counselors, and volunteers work year round to provide comfort and solace to end-of-life patients and their families and friends. This time of year, they count on your generosity. While doing your holiday shopping, you’re likely to come across one of our Tree of Life locations. This is an opportunity to give the gift of comfort to those benefiting from Hospice care and services.
Our Tree of Life locations are conveniently set up at major shopping destinations throughout the area. Benefactors can make donations in honor or in memory of a friend or loved one. That individual’s name is then put on an ornament to be displayed at a given location. All donations benefit someone who is receiving Hospice end-of-life care or bereavement support services in Orange and Sullivan Counties.
This year’s Tree of Life initiative will begin December 6 at 6:00pm with an annual ceremony at the Galleria at Crystal Run in Middletown, where three 12-foot trees will bare the names of people in whose honor or memory donations have been made. The Middletown Concert Chorale will perform Holiday carols.
In addition to the display at the Galleria, two 10-foot trees will be present at Adam’s Fairacre Farm in Newburgh, and Peck’s Markets will hang ornaments at its four stores in Livingston Manor, Jeffersonville, Eldred, and Callicoon.
If you won’t be doing your shopping at any of those locations, you can make an online donation and purchase an ornament in honor or in memory of a friend or loved one by clicking here.
Please mail cash or check donations to the attention of Maggie Sutter, Director of Fundraising & Special Events, at 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
